Susan competed in the Miss Kansas Pageant and was 2nd runner up to Miss Kansas 1998. She also won swimsuit and was a prior recipient of the Debra Bryant stage presence award. As a local titleholder, she took her passion for physical education and implemented the President’s Council on Physical Fitness across the state of Kansas. This program targeted 3rd graders across the state to increase physical fitness into their personal lives with an emphasis on healthy eating. Susan conducted the first ever “Fitness Day” in Pratt, KS for all schools targeting 3rd graders. Over 100 students attended a half-day fitness session that qualified them for the Presidential Fitness Award. Her platform of physical fitness is still dear to her heart as she is a technically trained tap and jazz performing artist. Her mother was a dance instructor and owned her own dance studio, which allowed Susan and her mother to choreograph all of her dance performances for The Miss Kansas Pageant.
The Miss Kansas Pageant enriched Susan’s life greatly by helping her pay for her college tuition and enabled her to work with professionals in the business industry to prepare her for the “real world.” She credits the Miss America program with allowing her access to people and places that forever changed her trajectory in life. Susan was a Crimson Girl at the University of Kansas and served as an emcee to several local pageants while she attended college. Susan graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education and furthered her education by completing her MBA while working in the pharmaceutical industry.
A 10 year Colorado resident, Susan resides in the Denver area with her husband, Lee, and her daughter Sloane. She is an active foster for the Dumb Friends League and volunteers for the Girl Scouts of America. She loves spending quality time with her family and enjoys going to California when she gets the chance!
